About the Music

Curated by Experience. Generated by AI. Priced for Reality.

I’ve spent over 50 years in broadcasting, voiceover, and audio production. I know exactly what happens when you try to put a busy, “full-spectrum” music track behind a voiceover: You fight it.

You spend twenty minutes EQing the music just to make the narrator intelligible. I built Scot Combs Library Music to solve that problem.

My Creative Partner is a Machine

Let’s be fully transparent: I use Generative AI to create the raw audio for these tracks.

Why? Because it allows me to produce a massive variety of styles at a speed—and price point—that traditional composition can’t match. This is why I can offer every track for $3.00, Royalty-Free.

AI is the session musician. It doesn’t know the difference between a “good groove” and a “cluttered mess.”

The “Scot Combs” Filter

That is where I come in. I don’t just type a prompt and upload the result. I act as the Director and Executive Producer.

For every track you see in this library, I have rejected twenty others. I supply the vision, the ideation, and the direction. But most importantly, I supply the trash can.

If a track is too busy, too distracting, or structurally unsound, I delete it. If I wouldn’t use it on my own client’s project, I won’t sell it to you.

Engineered for Voiceover

Most AI music is not very good because most people are not musicians and/or audio engineers. Even fewer people know how to craft an AI prompt to deliver a quality composition. I take the raw AI audio and put it through a rigorous Broadcast Preparation Process:

Prompting is Easy. Directing is Hard. Anybody can type “upbeat rock” into a prompt box. The result is usually generic noise. To get broadcast-quality music, you have to speak the machine’s language. I translate 50 years of musical knowledge—genre history, song structure, and instrumentation—into complex technical commands. I know how to treat the prompt box like a mixing console—adjusting every variable until the output meets my standards.

The “VO Pocket” (Anti-Masking) Human speech intelligibility lives in the 1kHz to 4kHz range. Unfortunately, that is exactly where most music is busiest. I apply a surgical “Mid-Range EQ Carve” to every track. This prevents the music from burying your voice. The Result: You can mix the music louder without losing the narrator.

Transient Taming AI generation often creates sharp, digital “spikes” (transients) that distract the ear. I ensure the track feels polished and “glued together” rather than harsh and digital.

Expertly Curated I curate tracks that set the mood, propel the story, and support the content.

The Bottom Line

This isn’t “High Art” designed to win a Grammy. It is Utility Audio designed to solve a problem. It is a tool. And like any good tool, it should work perfectly the moment you pick it up.
